Mass Effect, GOTY Awards 2007

It’s that time of year when the best games of the year duke it out for supremacy. Unfortunately, there is no definitive award for the medium and instead relies upon various corporations and sites to make their own. In the end it comes down to trust, and personally out of all the online and TV reviewers out there, the one that stands out from the rest to myself is Gametrailers.com. To each their own I guess. There was some pretty stiff competition this year, a great sign the industry is headed in the right direction. I’m happy to report though a game I felt really deserved a win took out the best RPG category. Yes, none other than Mass Effect for the 360. For those who have played it I’m sure you would agree that the attention to detail and raw atmosphere was spectacular, those who haven’t played it and like ‘choose your own adventures’ I urge you to get a copy or borrow from a mate, you wont be sorry. Congratulations Bioware, thanks for a fantastic gaming experience this year. The other big winners this year, Portal & Bioshock. Check out the rest of the categories here.

Sweet. I’ve been looking for a reason to buy Mass Effect, and you just gave it to me. The only thing holding me back is the massive drain on my time I expect it to have. Hmm.

Haha! Yeah dude, it’s about the only negative thing I can say about it. I’m pretty sure I know your gaming tastes and I bet my left nut you’ll love it. I’m playing it through a second time already (how many times can you say that about a game these days eh?) tongue wink
