Servers, beat the summer heat

The heat in Perth, WA recently has been insane! I’m pretty sure they clocked it at 44.2°C just a day ago, consequently our trusty as hell air conditioner at work shat itself once again. The guys were investigating some temperature monitoring tools to install into the server room for when there may not be any staff around to notice. A friend of ours recommended this product which looks awesome! The company is called => Equals Greater Than. I’m only mentioning it as it turns out they’re also from Perth. Read all about this cool product.

Internet Explorer 6, kiss my ass

I work creating websites for clients every day, I love it, I couldn’t imaging myself doing anything else. But, I’m constantly pulling my hair over optimising all my sites for the piece of garbage that is ‘Internet Explorer 6’. I’m quite aware of all the existing rants on the net already about this - I think it’s only really started to annoy me over the holidays as my test bed is pretty much only Safari and Firefox as I’m now developing on Mac. You know what, screw this rant, I’m not going to optimise this site for IE6. For those of you using it, you might be able to read this site but you’re missing out on all the bells and whistles (I’ve done that on purpose). For the love of god, PLEASE go and get yourself a real browser, heck, you can even upgrade to IE7 for all I care. I’m tired of my job taking twice as long just because I’ve got to deal with hacks & workarounds for this piece of junk browser. Trust me, you’ll be a whole lot happier. Once upgraded, you don’t have to kiss my ass, you’ll have Ms Evangeline Lilly‘s (the chick from Lost) instead. Please people. Think of the asses… Oh - and Merry Christmas to all those using a real browser!  (UHD)
