Mass Effect, GOTY Awards 2007

It’s that time of year when the best games of the year duke it out for supremacy. Unfortunately, there is no definitive award for the medium and instead relies upon various corporations and sites to make their own. In the end it comes down to trust, and personally out of all the online and TV reviewers out there, the one that stands out from the rest to myself is Gametrailers.com. To each their own I guess. There was some pretty stiff competition this year, a great sign the industry is headed in the right direction. I’m happy to report though a game I felt really deserved a win took out the best RPG category. Yes, none other than Mass Effect for the 360. For those who have played it I’m sure you would agree that the attention to detail and raw atmosphere was spectacular, those who haven’t played it and like ‘choose your own adventures’ I urge you to get a copy or borrow from a mate, you wont be sorry. Congratulations Bioware, thanks for a fantastic gaming experience this year. The other big winners this year, Portal & Bioshock. Check out the rest of the categories here.

Servers, beat the summer heat

The heat in Perth, WA recently has been insane! I’m pretty sure they clocked it at 44.2°C just a day ago, consequently our trusty as hell air conditioner at work shat itself once again. The guys were investigating some temperature monitoring tools to install into the server room for when there may not be any staff around to notice. A friend of ours recommended this product which looks awesome! The company is called => Equals Greater Than. I’m only mentioning it as it turns out they’re also from Perth. Read all about this cool product.
